One more queen is gone, and it’s a whole new week for the remaining contestants. It’s time for another group challenge, and as we all know, this can show the true weaknesses of each queen on that stage – and believe me, we see them.
After last week’s elimination, everyone has a discussion and it seems tenser than ever when it comes to attacking each other, more on Valentina than anyone else (and this could be nerves, could be jealousy, no one really knows), but this show puts it all to the test! Let’s see what this week shows us all.
As Ru enters, the challenge is unveiled: the contestants will compete in hosting live morning shows, such as Good Morning America, in two groups. There is always a full acting challenge in groups, and this is season nine’s, and the teams are looking to be… Varied. And the personalities shine (not always positively).
The two shows are “Good Morning, Bitches” and “Not On Today”, and as we move onto rehearsals, I notice one thing: there is a focus on ONE group. This is an issue I want to point to editing, really; the group led by last week’s winner Trinity Taylor, “Not On Today”, is highlighted. This is possibly for the dramatic factor: there is great conflict between leader and group, especially from Eureka. She has had history with Trinity, and they bring out the worst qualities of their personalities together. Calling Trinity a “dictator”, Eureka proves it. Will this hurt Trinity?
Cynthia Lee Fontaine and Charlie Hides are teamed up together for a segment and it shows straightaway there is an imbalance. Charlie is working on Cynthia to be professional and serious, telling her to cut down the laughter; this is a knock off Charlie’s usual fun and lovable self. This is where fans turn around on her and tell her “relax, trust Cynthia, stay silly”.
Now for going live! First up is “Good Morning, Bitches” and from the start with Farrah Moan and Alexis Michelle, there is some truth in their acting. The chemistry in the segment is genuine, and it feels natural. Go them!
Moving on, warring queens Aja and Valentina are trying their best to work well – there’s chemistry, but it feels more KABOOM.
Finally, Sasha Velour and Shea Coulee win this whole show with their cooking segment – who knew mixing veggies and choccies would be so NSFM (not safe for morning)? I have a good feeling about these queens; they aren’t going home. It was guaranteed from this, from every viewer – they were all damn safe!
And next is “Not On Today”, and we should clench and prepare. First up, Trinity and Peppermint are killing it. Murdering it. Leaving it for dead. There is no helping them here, because it’s live and they can’t fix their issues – especially when the words are fumbling out wrong.
Moving on to Charlie and Cynthia, and I feel scared for Charlie’s fate. She isn’t having fun, and she comes across as forcing herself to get through it. She also seems to be guiding Cynthia through the segment – not that she needed it, but it was like Charlie wanted it done in a certain way. It doesn’t work if there is no balance. Don’t know if she was nervous or something else was going on, but she wasn’t Charlie. I’m praying here.
Finally is Nina Bo’nina Brown and Eureka. Honestly, this was the only segment I could enjoy. It was fun and natural, with Nina shining like the stones on an ugly girl’s gown. I have the highest hopes for Nina, she never fails to make me go “woo!”
Overall though, I was so worried for all of these queens – it’s like “Shakesqueer” all over again. The whole team is panic-inducing.
As the queens converse, once more, the heartstrings are pulled as topics get serious. First, Aja and Valentina make up like sweet queens do (aww!) and I’m happy there is now peace between them. It shows their maturity.
Next is Charlie gaining spotlight when discussing the rise of HIV/AIDS in the 1980s, and the one sentence that broke my heart was “I buried all my best friends”. This shows Charlie’s strength, as she carried on raising awareness for the disease in her friends’ names. Being a seasoned queen, Charlie saw it first-hand, and sharing it with the younger queens opens their eyes to what these older members of the community have done for them to live a lot easier now.
Tensions have been rising all episode, and Eureka and Trinity are put into the limelight of this – deservingly, sadly.
Moving on to the runway!
The theme is night-time clothing, and straightaway, there are gorgeous nightgowns and promiscuous underwears – you could guess who wears what – and it shows the individuality of the contestants’ styles.
With half of the girls safe, the others are critiqued and judged. There are similar points being made, as similar mistakes were made during the live shows – oh well, it’s how they learn how to act, interact, and even dress right.
Once the bottom two is chosen, a crazy dance song in Britney’s “I Wanna Go” is chosen and sadly, we – and the queens – yell out of frustration. We sadly see from the start who is staying and who is going home and it’s upsetting! Heart-breaking!
I was screaming at about 5am this morning, watching this, thinking “Move! Please!” because you do not just give up on the lip-sync. You do not!
Overall, the episode is unforgettable, but not for the best reasons, I’m afraid.

I was a massive fan of this episode, it was very enjoyable, making me fall in love with Shea and Sasha even more. One of the most heartbreaking parts which you didn’t mention was Eureka vs Sasha, where she revealed her eating disorder problems and Eureka effectively discarded that info and somehow became offended, it just annoyed me.

I wanted to include it but I had to try and cut down the review; it was so hard trying to get the important points covered, there were so many, I’m sorry I left out that one. That part annoyed me too, because Eureka wasn’t apologising for offending – she apologised for Sasha being offended by her “joke”. That was one piece of drama that shouldn’t go unnoticed
